Senza troppe preoccupazioni e patemi d’animo potrete provare l’ultima release del browser Microsoft senza aver paura di combinare disastri con la precedente versione.
Basterà infatti scaricare Internet Explorer Collection 1.1.1.0 e avrete a disposizione tutte le versioni del browser in versione stand alone.
Tutte convivono assieme senza avere problemi di incompatibilità…

Una piccola chicca per chi sviluppa siti web ed è ossessionato dalla compatibilità verso il basso dei browser.
Oppure un semplice tuffo nel passato della recente storia di Internet.

Questa applicazione racchiude in unico installer tutte (o quasi) le maggiori versioni di Internet Explorer (o Exploder per quelli che lo odiano) dalla 1 alla 8

Per la precisione le versioni disponibili da installare sono:

– Internet Explorer 1.0 (4.40.0.308)
– Internet Explorer 1.5 (0.1.0.10)
– Internet Explorer 2.01 (2.1.0.46)
– Internet Explorer 3.0 (3.0.1152)
– Internet Explorer 4.01 (4.72.3110.0)
– Internet Explorer 5.01 (5.00.3314.2100)
– Internet Explorer 5.5 (5.51.4807.2300)
– Internet Explorer 6.0 (6.00.2800.1106)
– Internet Explorer 7.0 (7.0.5730.13)

– Updated Internet Explorer 8.0 from 8.0.6001.18241 (beta 2) to 8.0.6001.18372 (RC1)

Ovviamente le versioni più vecchie avranno difficoltà a partire sui sistemi operativi moderni. Pensate che la 1.0 girava su Windows 3.11 :)
Provate a fare un giro per il web con la versione 2 o 3 e rimarrete sbalorditi… quasi nessun sito si visualizza correttamente ;)

  3. Sconsiglio vivamente l’installazione di questo tool… ho dovuto disinstallare e reinstallare explorer 7 su due macchine differenti entrambe con xp pro sp2 in quanto explorer 7 vede le select box come popup, non visualizza più gli alert javascript.
